MISSION: DELIVER A MEMORIAL FLAG FROM FORT HOOD, TEXAS, TO THE FAMILY OF SGT JENNIFER HARTMAN IN PENNSYLVANIA.

The flag ride was initiated by Dennis "Big Country," State Coordinator for the WWR for the state of Texas. Dennis, recently retired from the Army, was one of Jennifer's noncoms when she was alive.
The flag has already traveled from Texas, across the southern states, to Georgia. On September 10 the Georgia riders, and Dennis, will bring the flag the rest of the way north to Pennsylvania.
I made contact with the Hartman family and they have agreed to receive the flag from us on Sunday, the 13th of September, at their home.

***********************************************
Jennifer Hartman joined the Army in July, 2003, at the age of 18, because she believed it was the right thing to do. In December of 2005 SGT Jennifer Hartman deployed with the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. On September 14, 2006, one of the enemy drove a car bomb into Jennifer’s barracks, ending her short life in a massive explosion that she had no chance of escaping.

Jennifer loved to ride. A news story said of Jennifer, "Hartman was a tough, spirited tomboy who loved driving around the countryside on her four-wheeler."
At the cemetery where she was laid to rest, men sobbed openly when white doves were released and circled the mourners in the damp morning air. The priest read aloud a quote that Jennifer had written this to a friend who was feeling down.
“It’s not about what happened in the past. It’s not about what might happen in the future. It’s about THE RIDE, for Christ’s sake.”
"The Ride" in various forms has been my personal mission ever since. Those of us who were there have never forgotten Jennifer. We wear a patch in her memory.

I have been in contact with Jennifer's younger sister, Katie, who is now a college student. Katie said to me, "It is nice to see she is not forgotten and that her spirit in a sense is still present. She was definitely into riding her all terrain vehicles and would be very honored that so many people will be showing their respect by making this journey on motorcycles across so many states. It brings tears to my eyes. Riding was how Jen, Brian (brother), and I all bonded and filled our time when we were little and living in the country. My dad figured this was the best way to keep us out of trouble and occupied.
I will never forget the time that Jen and I were on the go carts and she decided to go the other way on the track like a speed demon and we crashed head on ..the only thing damaged was my fingers that were all torn up but healed quickly ....There was no fear and forget the pain ....we were back out there riding on the dirt trails. Although, I did not get into this as much as Jen and Brian. They would spend hours just racing, jumping, and climbing big hills. Jen sure did live for riding which she could do for hours and never get bored. After getting the "toys" all dirty ...she would take the time to shine them back up for the next day of riding.....
My family and I would like to welcome you and The Warrior’s Watch to New Ringgold on Sunday, Sept. 13th."
