The Cherohala SkywayThe Cherohala Skyway
How can you really describe the Cherohala Skyway? I don't think words can. Most motorcyclists come to cut their teeth on the nearby "Tail of the Dragon", but leave with some of their fondest memories being of the Skyway.
I couldn't tell you why this is. All I know is when I think back to the roads in this area, the Cherohala Skyway comes up near the top of the list. It's twisty sure, a requirement for almost any road in this area. But, it has something else that makes you want to ride it again and again.
Maybe it's the fact that it's a relatively new road, maybe it's the fact that it has absolutely no commercial or residential buildings along it, maybe it's all of the above or maybe, just maybe, it's because it's really fun.

Skyline Drive. Follow 66 (west) out of DC, it's before one gets to 81 on the left. Every bit as good as the Skyway and as long as you've got the heart it can be done in a day.
