|
|
Are there any plans to update the website? I enjoy working with computers and would be willing to help out if someone wants to show me the ropes. Now-a-days people tend to research as much as they can on the internet, especially the younger generation. I know that we need to reach the younger crowd (high motorcycle fatality statistics) more and believe we'll be a lot more successful with current website. I'm not sure where the club is on dues, but we could raise some serious cash if we hosted a $20 hand poker run with a 50/50 prize at the end.
Thoughts???

The web is currently in Front Page. I do not have the userid/password for uploading a new web nor do I know who has it. I also agree that freshing up the site might be in order. _________________ Paul Jirinec

A poker run would be fun but we would have to do the following first:
IRS issues: Apply for 501C-3 ststus (non-profit)
Obtain Run Insurance
Have a legal rep or lawyer approve our waiver for use
Not had but it takes someone to do the leg work. I'm working on the 501c-3 ststus for National but the IRS said each chapter should apply for thier own if the plan on making significant funds.
Cheers,

If you push me in the right direction I'll see what I can do. I think I should bring this up at a meeting for a vote or something first... right? It would be pretty cool if we could channel our passion for motorcycles into some funds to help give back where we can.
I'll talk to you later. _________________ It's all about the ride, not the fashion show. |

We also have to select a route and man the check points. There are decisons about card trades and need to see if we can get vendors at the final location. There's a lot of work that goes into setting up a poker run. I like the idea and am willing to help out. Generally a poker run is 75 to 100 miles from check-in to final destiantion. _________________ Paul Jirinec

Now if we did this on base and just for military. That would eliminate insurance issues. We can make it a McGuire/Dix poker run.
Just a suggestion. _________________ Adam

Hmm... that's actually a pretty good idea. I know that the Club is hurting for membership and they would probably jump at the opportunity to help sponsor anything that would promote them. Maybe at the next meeting (whenever that may be) we can brainstorm some locations to make it worth the ride.
